Smallholder Computer Training in Mullyash

The sustaining PROGRESS II project recently organized a 10 week computer training programme for small holder household members in Mullyash Community Centre.

This course began in Jan and has just ended at the end of March. It was a joint venture between County Monaghan Partnership, County Monaghan VEC and Mullyash Community Group. The participants came from the smallholder sector and there was a wide range of ages and both male & female participants. Eight people completed the training. Tracy Kierans acted as tutor to the group. The course was held for beginner and the experience in computers within the group ranged from zero experience (literally not knowing how to switch the computer on) to low level experience.

The course focused on Word, Excel and file management and all participants increased their competency significantly by the end. A measure of the success of the project can be viewed from the fact that the participants have asked us to organize a follow up course for the autumn period.
