General Grants Scheme Guidelines for Applicants 2009
The Trust was set up in Ireland in 1992 by a Dutch philanthropic family, which operates worldwide. Since 2003, it has had 3 further sources of funding, all Irish religious orders, which sold property, some of the proceeds being gifted to the Trust to assist it in its mission. They are the Daughters of the Cross of Liege, the Discalced Carmelites and the Oblate Fathers.
The Trust operates on a 32-county basis and the general grant scheme is outlined below. A separate scheme operates for organisations working in Darndale Belcamp, D17.

Monaghan Integrated Development Ltd in partnership with Local Employment Service, Department of Social & Family Affairs, Monaghan VEC & MAB Money Advice & Budgeting Service are running a 3 week Life-Skills Course.
The course will include life-skills such as Confidence Building, Motivation, Stress Management, Time Management, Basic Gardening Skills, Food Diet & Nutrition, First Aid & Household Budgeting skills.

Report Launch:
The Partnership commissioned report titled ‘Community Profile & Needs Analysis of New Communities in Co. Monaghan’ was officially launched on Thursday 11th December. The research was by a collaboration of different groups all of whom work with and support foreign nationals

Despite the current economic climate entrepreneurship within County Monaghan is still strong. To- date this year 25 long term unemployed individuals from the county have supported into self-employment. One of these individuals is Sharon Hanratty from Corduff. Sharon is happy to relate her story in order that others may gain inspiration and also to create awareness of the supports available to assist social welfare customers to reach their full potential . . . read on >>

October and November were very busy months for the sixteen groups supported under round two of the Partnership’s Small Scale Grants Scheme. These groups organised highly successful social events for older people to help alleviate the impacts rural isolation has on people’s lives . . . more >>

The Integration Project within County Monaghan Partnership recently collaborated with the Volunteer Bureau to host an intercultural event, which included the participation of the residents of St Patrick’s Accommodation Centre for asylum seekers and other ethnic minorities in the County . . . more >>

Hosted by County Monaghan Partnership, with support from Cavan Monaghan Rural Development, the third annual awards presentation night was held Monday night, Dec 8th '08, in the Iontas Centre, Castleblayney.
It was a terrific way to round off the year, by recognizing and rewarding volunteers and local community groups who have worked tirelessly to “Make Monaghan a Better Place”.

The conference, held in the Pearse Brothers GAA Centre in Ballybay on Thursday 18th September and titled “Rural Isolation in County Monaghan – Problems and Solutions”, can be viewed as a significant contribution to helping achieve progression on a subject which has been of concern to many for quite some time. The event which attracted an attendance of over 120 people generated much discussion and gave rise to many excellent suggestions to address some of the issues raised . . . click here to read more >>
